Scratch that, there was no planet buster. I deny everything!

Delighted that you think of me but you should send a PM if you want to be sure I take part into the discussion.

If you’re still OK, I’ll play the University of Planet.

Your game, your rules.

A fifth player will assure you won’t get locked down in a 2vs2.

Timezone: CET (Switzerland) (probably GMT+1)
I see we are all in the same zone. Good! As you can see, 2 days out of 3, I eat at home and can play at noon. And I can play at 7:00 morning until turn 2130 when turns get heavier.

Only one thing: be sure to give Yitzi’s patch number we’ll use. I play currently on 3.4 but he released 3.4b this month.

I deny everything! I have nothing to hide, but how much will there be in the videos? Is it one video after we're done or are you going to upload something while we still play and we're supposed not to watch? How much do you want for not showing my true colours to the world? Is it in Euros? And it was only one teeny tiny planet buster!

It couldn't possibly be the case that I am recording these videos so that there is proof of your foul deeds!

I'll pre-record everything I do while playing into those episodes and when the game is over release them weekly, like the series between Eadee and myself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW1L8xLRpzA .

Interestingly the format means that if I am sufficiently planet bustered, the video series effectively ends and the viewers at home will never see who wins, which should add to the tension.

Delighted that you think of me but you should send a PM if you want to be sure I take part into the discussion.
This is more like the U.N. every day!  ;lal;

Good to meet you Vishniac, and thank you for being observant enough for the thread. I honestly thought some-else would message you. L

I have added you to the list, I believe that was OK with everybody? Five human players should dissuade certain players from putting planet busters on rovers at turn 1. I for one selflessly pledge to obliterate warlords for the safety of all.

Is it OK if in the videos I refer to you as Vishniac, or do you prefer a different name?

Only one thing: be sure to give Yitzi’s patch number we’ll use. I play currently on 3.4 but he released 3.4b this month.

Shall we all stay at 3.4 so that we have a bit more of a battle-tested patch?

On that note I was to stress again to not make unit designs obsolete from the editor, at it removes those units for all players.

Also, could all of you let me know how I pronounce your name, just in case? I know Eadee, of course.

We are still looking for someone to keep all the passwords, too :)

Referring back to the set-up, obviously I like abundant native life because it makes the game so much fun and I have no idea why "balance" would be affected      Mindworms make great pets you know: affectionate, intelligent and a very gratifying growth rate.

But hey, if you really insist   ;lol

Also I don't want to give you the wrong idea about Kirov and his busters. They were very nice busters with nice manners and he was very apologetic about building them. I probably shouldn't have nicked the WP. Or tried to transcend  :)  Kirov is usually very friendly and only cuts up rough if people try to win. So don't worry.

To be honest, I'd ban busters if it were up to me. Planet's ecology is just too fragile to handle them    ;hippy

The name's KEE-rov. Like Russian, but don't overdo it - I'm Polish actually. ;)

Amen, Brother! It seems our goals are aligned. DON'T FORGET TO READ HIS SIGNATURE!

Now, that's the Misotu I know. Phew, for a moment I thought somebody stole your account and only direct persuasion would make them give it back.

And 'native life' is random, so it's 1/3 you're gonna have it too rough and 1/3 - too easy with your pets. Up to you, really, but in your shoes I would ask for 'average'.

One more thing - I'm away till Sunday. Hopefully we'll have everything ready by then if we don't have it now! Really a random map? This can bite us.

I'd go with random simply because I didn't read Vishniacs signature :P

If you want someone to set up a map for us, just find one. Maybe he'll offer to be password-keeper as well.

If noone comes to your mind for that then I'd suggest to ask BU since he's around almost all the time.

More than you can think: I ran a game yesterday with our parameters (large map, 7 original factions, thinker) to see how it works.
In 2215 of course my University is leading in tech and I built most of SPs but...I and all others AI are only at 50% of the Believers' powergraph.
First in population: Miriam
First in territory: Miriam
First in military: Miriam

The game's gonna be fun but the fun's gonna be shorter for the one nearest to Miriam.
Unless he can freely use nerve gas.

Thank God you've joined.

So does everyone see that Vishniac is the homicidal one here, filling our quota of one and precisely one token bad guy? Right? Right? And I have nothing to do with it and no provocations have been made and no facts were distorted or completely made up, right? Right?! Good. Because I don't want to see any double standards later on and I certainly don't want to hear that I'm a hypocritical mass murderer ever again.  I'm most certainly not. For that matter, I'm everything but. Besides, it's not about me, it's about Vishniac. Don't forget to read his signature!!

If Miriam is lucky she gets large very quickly, if another one is lucky another one will get large. A random map can also put Miriam on a tiny island somewhere far away and the whole game could pass by without anybody finding her. Perhaps Misotu will land in the jungle with abundant native life and we will all team up against her in the first 80 years.

I still find the not knowing far more interesting than having an artificial balance by some person I am bound to eventually disagree with and resent for his map choices  :P

Well if I were playing it safe then I suppose I would ask for average native life, but I'm ok with random - not being much of a militarist, I think it unlikely anyone will ever be afraid of me anywhere on Planet!

I'm just one of life's victims  :sob:

PS  Kirov is not a mass murderer, I can vouch for that. When he turned up with six planet busters and assorted launch pads I very sensibly put the happy little lives of my populace first and conceded.Who knows? Perhaps if I'd carried on he would have said "fair enough, we Poles are too honourable to have mass murder on our consciences. Can I do anything to help you transcend faster dear Misotu?"

And then again, he might just have obliterated my six best cities. I guess we'll never know   ;cute

PS  Just to say that I haven't ever played with native life on rare so thought I would heed Kirov's comment and at least try it. Played a couple of times through the early turns - no mindworms at all for around 50 turns except one from a pod which obviously just attacked me and died. So I think, to be honest, that if the random setting turned up "rare" I'd be very disadvantaged  :(  I'd also forgotten that the native life setting affects the amount of fungus - there is almost none  on rare setting, it didn't look like Planet at all!

So can I change my mind and request "average" please? Sorry - it's not that I want an enormous native life army particularly but playing Gaia with rare lifeforms is very dispiriting  :D

Oh my dear, I wasn't referring to you this time. I was literally called a "hypocritical mass murderer" in Rising Sun. Some people, eh? I guess I'm a life's victim, too. ;cute

Anyhow, I'm back. Do we set up this game?
