 ;aki; Aki's log, May 8th 2135

May 8th 1945, my great great father celebrates the Victory of WWII. He participated in the decoding of Enigma, and was very proud to have helped save his fellows. 190 years ago to the day, I find myself in the situation of recreating a war. An alien garnison helped with an alien rover stand at the gate of CYBORGS HOLIDAYS. The city is no longer a place to be on vacation, despite the beautiful sunshine in the area. We don't really know the intention of those aliens, as we have still not found a way to communicate with them. I created a lab project to try to understand those waves their sending to us, as I'm pretty sure those repeat radio signals may mean something. But on this day, I think I have no choice to take another measure, that won't be popular among my peaceful nation: I'll set up a laboratory cell to prototype a weapon. Hope we can produce something to defend us in time...

Indeed, the last turn flew past my radar.
I was thinking that you've been angered by these talks of cooperative victory...  ;)

As for Gaian neighborhood, the Aliens have disappeared. Maybe to take care of the Cyborgs?

It seems no less then a decade is needed to start rebuilding losses incurred.
Still, damages were covered by insurance, so it is not all that bad.

Look, don't get me wrong, I've got alien friends myself, but I think most of them should go back to Mexico.

The GIA (Gaian Intelligence Agency) presents you its decadal report on Chiron population: interesting trends.
It seems that factions with growth malus didn't feel it as for now.

Bloody Caretakers. It appears that we have no chance even if we would jointly attack them.

Are you under attack or is it just the sight of the powergraph frightening you?
At this time of the game, most of their rise is probably due to them having landed in the Monsoon Jungle. With some investment in defence to keep them at bay, we should be able to take them down sooner than later.

That reminds me of the 'maritime' game when the CMN found fun to put aliens in perma-vendetta against us and give them 3-res armor from the start... They almost wiped me out, I lost 38 units and a few bases before I could stabilize the situation and gain some ground again.
At this stage, you just don't care about the other players: killing the aliens becomes a goal in itself.

I do believe there are little problem liberal application of anti-alien sprays (tm) (aka nerve gas) cannot solve in that regard
P.S. what is the command to switch between description and production infor display about current square?

Cooperative victory don't bother me unless it's unfair. Consider a game where one faction is dominating the world, and two other are in pain. If these two teams sign a pact against the big one, it seems fair to me.

I have no problems with pacts, but with their permanence. Imagine player A faring well and B & C teaming up against him. In one scenario, they defeat him and win together, end of story. In the other scenario, they have to keep an eye on each other at all times, knowing that their falling out is inevitable. Just before A is done with, B saves him and backstabs C, trying to secure the win for himself. Which scenario sounds more fun to you?

And this is before we even consider less sporstman alliances. Any two reasonably good players can ink a perma-alliance as early as possible and with no distrust or disaccord between them, they can dominate 99% games. Just synchronize your research and waltz your way to victory.

I believe that free for all is the default and most probable scenario. It's like in real life. After WWII former allies (US and USSR) became bitter enemies.

;aki; Note on "Agressives Octopus", 2137.

The aliens we've met did not seem to be native. They have clothes, vehicules, and weapons. A lot of weapons. A rover approching their city count not less than a half dozen of troops. They don't use a psychotic transe to attack. It looks like their resonance can create a "sound shield". Our lab guys made some progress on a laser weapon, but our data scientists have already calculate that 20% of lasers may be reflected due to resonance. Also, we think the aliens can use this resonance in the other way around. The magnetism could be manipulate in order to gather 25% firepower bonus in channeling the attack. Our algorithms permit us to understand the physics, but not to use it on the field. But some day we will, hopefully.

The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, God still watches and judges us. Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil.
