That sounds about right.  The special effects and sets weren't nearly as good, the costumes not quite as good, maybe, but the script and casting was much, much, MUCH better. 

I'd really like to be able to magically merge the two together, picking and choosing what to keep.

Wasn't that an Italian co-production?  I think it was shot in Albania, but a lot of the cast were Italian...  Did they shoot it in Italian language, too, or was it dubbed?

if i remeber correctly there are few differents with the movie of 80s
italians are like parsley, as it say here, because you can put parsley in all italian dishes that is sounds good

Hey, ariete, you have posted several custom factions in the downloads section. I guess that the latest versions are the ones in ALL CAPS. Is this correct?

but are not final, there's to fix txt files to customized better following the line that we can deduce reading the 'original' txt and i don't like (or better i can't find) a really cool logo for federation armada (name that we can change, i'm not properly convinced)

I could proof read the .txt files and look for inconsistencies, no problem. Then BU can have another look and change the mistakes that I have made.
