- your time zone - usefull in SMAX: CET
- preferred faction/s: depends on the setting. But no Miriam/Lal/Domai/Cha Dawn. I'll choose later if Mart has no special idea for a scenario requiring me to take someone precise.

What is this HQ Ogre MK I restriction?

Not ever moving out of HQ?
My assumption is that it shouldn't be outright removed because of my proposed later start. I see it as a protection against random native life attack while my starting unit(s) wait out the number of turns a cmn-rolled dice throws, before I can found my first base and move a scout out.
Basically, this Progenitor faction 'wakes up' somewhere between MY 2102-2107, depending on what number your dice rolled (1-6).

Progenitors have serious advantages that even a 5-turn delay can lower. You are sure to be 1 vs 2 with human players.

Maybe, for balancing things, I should take the other Progenitor, Kirov would have Deirdre AND abundant native life and we could bring Earthmichael in.

It doesn't really matter to me if I start from a weaker position. Look at our previous game where I had a -2 growth penalty and severe hab complex restriction, and where that brought me withiut complaint.
Besides, I feel my chances are better against a Progenitor AI then you. :D

And what is the latest stable Yitzi patch?
I think we can try this one in this game.

I can accommodate a faction to the story.
Which one you feel like playing here?

The latest, although he's about to update again:
Yitzi's unofficial SMAX patch 2.5j

http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=255

Fixed another bug, in which enemy usage of PBs could cause a crash.

Requires all other files from 2.5.

Yitzi patch, 2.5j is not stable. I played maybe 3 turns with progenitors and got game crash. Need to check other versions.

Have you reported the bug?  I don't think progs get played a lot, so a prog-specific bug would be easy to overlook, but Yitzi will want savegames if you can supply, so he can nail the problem.

I'm still not that warm to have someone with Progenitor.
Was a long time since I played a SMAX game with them so I launched one yesterday and...frightening! (though the Santiago AI was able to eradicate the Usurpers who were harassing me  ;santi;)

Better have a good scenario to alleviate those fears.

The fungus has been Planet's dominant lifeform since about the time of the Lower Paleozoic on Earth. But when, once every hundred million years or so, the neural net at last achieves the critical mass necessary to become sentient, the final metamorphosis kills of most of the other life on the planet. It is possible that we humans can help to break this tragic cycle.
