Can't save custom faction profiles in Gimp 2.8.10?

Hi all! I've finally upgraded to crossfire and wanted to work on some custom factions to play with, however I had to re-install all my programs since my computer died and have been forced to upgrade to Gimp 2.8.10. The problem I'm having is that when hitting save on a pcx file it will open the window that pops up when you hit save as, and wants me to assign a file type to it.
If I remove the automated extension of .xcf it'll just apply a .xcf extension anyway.

What do I do?

You Export the image as whatever you desire, not save it. Without exporting, you do not convert.
