Battle of giants - New PBEM
« on: June 27, 2013, 09:18:51 PM »
I have a nice idea for a game,
I need six players or two, I'll be the CMN, the map is highly balanced, split into two factions alliance, North and South Alliance,What is special with this game? Each Alliance has in their lines UNI, MORGAN and PIRATES.
I imagined a game  in this way but of course everything is subject to agreement :)

Is someone  interested to take part in the game?

Well, with Kirov preparing to take a break, I am sure there would be a market.

Better would be to let folks choose what faction. I can do team games.

I would go with a faction I am strong with like Miriam. It would also be kind of fun to try an alien. I have yet to see Prog factions in a MP game. I am not holding my breath, though.

Hell, I just had a really geeky thought: The Antimind vs EVERYONE! Hmm, not sure how a custom faction would work in a MP game.

Oh well... I choose Miriam.

I'm pretty sure that a well-played Spartans could beat the Antimind in 1v1.  -4 INDUSTRY is a pretty big penalty, so it forces the Antimind to play to its strengths, and that can be used.

That said, Morgan/Uni/Pirates might not be the most effective team-up.  Personally, I think Cyborgs/Drones/Spartans would do better if used well.

I'm interested. I can play these settings, too. In that case, I want to be either the punch-guy (pirates) or the money maker. If any other settings are agreed upon, I'd also probably join.

I would be interested in such a game as a 1-vs-1, where each player controls the entire North or South alliance.  You would have the entire North alliance go successively, then the entire South alliance.  That way there would be only one file transfer per turn.  And I would be willing for my alliance to go last.

But I am not interesting in joining a 6 player game.  In my experience, a game with 6 players falls apart due to personal issues before the game gets interesting.

EM has a point here. ^ players is maybe too much. how about 2Vs2?

Either way will do for me. I think we could find 6 committed players around here (at the Rising Sun we have 5 players and the turns have been quite fast so far). Barring that, I can join smaller games as well.

We can wait one more player or to create several separate 1vs1 or 2vs2 games.

What do you think is better?

3vs3 or 1vs1 game -I envisioned the game as follows 3 factions vs 3 factions ( UNI, MORGAN And PIRATES vs UNI, MORGAN And PIRATES) on the extra strong balanced map(VETERAN map). But of course it all depends on you and your mutual agreement.

2vs2 or 1vs1 -I also have an interesting idea for a game two on two or one on one, 2 factions vs 2 factions (Manifold Caretakers and Manifold Caretakers vs Manifold Usurpers and Manifold Usurpers) on the extra strong balanced map(VETERAN map).

But of course it all depends on you and your mutual agreement

I have never seen a Progenitor faction played by a player in a MP game... Any of you guys that have been lurking or posting on forums ever seen one?

That said, how about instead of some theme, just let us pick then we can do a team 2v2 game or something?

As I said, I am interested in 1 vs 1 types of game where each player have 2 or 3 faction that they control.

I think any kind of balanced setup would be interesting, including Aliens as long as both sides get the same factions and start.  I would be very interested in such a game.  I also like the asymmetrical balanced game I am trying to start with Roninscg.  In this game we had certain rules for picking faction to try to insure an asymmetric balanced start.  That might appeal to some people.  We also created a balanced vets map that can handle 3x3 faction fairly we hope.
