Yes, let's start a new game with the modified alphax file, and see if we can keep the rising water from happening.  Maybe the moderator has to get into the act also, and use a modified alphax file to create the scenario.

I agree with you, if it ok for you we can use Yitzi patch, or he can modify the map.

How do you want to play?  Unless someone comes up with another balanced map, I think the modified vets map is the only real choice there.  But what about factions?

As for me, all the same as our previous game, and factions we choose is ok that for you?

If I understand correctly, you would like a rematch of our exact same game, but with modified alphax from the start, and the Yitzi patch?

Is there something that says exactly what the Yitzi patch does?  I read the readme file, but I am not exactly sure what it means in terms of bug fixes and game changes.

I don't like some of the ideas that Yitzi tossed around, like facilities not affecting the clean mineral limit, or changing the tech tree.  But I am all for bug fixes and getting rid of rising water!

Yes, rematch of our exact same game but we choose again factions, and with modified alphax from the start, I think it's better to play without Yitzi patch. (I thought that fixes some bugs  raising the water level and other things. That's why I insisted on it)

OK, sounds good.  So we play with the scient patch?  (That is what I have installed by default)  And of course the modified alphax files that will hopefully stop rising water.

Do you want 1st and 4th pick, or 2nd and 3rd pick?  If you want 1st and 4th pick, go ahead and pick your first faction.  If you want 2nd and 3rd pick, let me know.

Pirates and Aliens are banned.  Any other faction choice is OK.  Neither of us can pick both University and Cycon (but each of us can pick one of them if we want).

We play with scient patch and with modified alphax files that stop rising water.

That is perfectly fine.  For 2 & 3, I pick Cycon and Free Drones.

ok,

I choose,

1. Uni
4. Hiv

I have an idea, what do you think to we play with three Factions? I thought we use veteran map and put two factions on islands, and one on central island.
We choose three factions only one from group
factions in the same group, which means
that if I choose Factions Morgan in the first
group simply can not pick one more faction from that group.

Group 1

Morgan Industries
The University of Planet
The Cybernetic Consciousness

Group 2

The Spartan Federation
The Lord's Believers
The Data Angels

Group 3

The Human Hive
The Free Drones

Group 4

The Peacekeeping Forces
Gaia's Stepdaughters
The Cult of Planet

Of course if you have any suggestions or  you think something needs to change groups or something else, say and will change that :)
In this way we will speed up the game and raised to a higher level of playing.
What do you think about this?

OK, I took a look at potential starting positions, and although each of the islands has a square that looks like a good potential starting square, the island connections have too much fungus for expansion.

If you really want to play three factions, you or I could try our hand at modifying the vets map to have a more viable 3 person start.

I just got in from a trip, and am quite tired, so the earliest I can even think about modifying the map is about 12 hours from now.  Or if you want to try it before then, fine.  Just post first so that I don't waste my time modifying the map at the same time you are.

As for the factions, do you want to repick completely, or just add a third faction to what we have already picked?

I think your group 1 and group 3 are useful, but I suggest all other factions be freely available.  So relabel group 3 to group 2, and just have group 1, group 2, and all other factions are free picks.

For example, I am perfectly fine if your three faction picks are all from your group 2 (The Spartan Federation, The Lord's Believers, The Data Angels), or all of your picks are from your group 4 (The Peacekeeping Forces, Gaia's Stepdaughters, The Cult of Planet), or any combination of group 2 and group 4.

For 3 factions, I think the fairest way to work this is one person gets pick 1, 4, 5, and the other faction gets 2, 3, 6, with the grouping rules so that no one can pick more than 1 of (The University of Planet, The Cybernetic Consciousness) and no one can pick more than 1 of (The Human Hive, The Free Drones).

The other available factions can be freely picked in any combination you like:
The Spartan Federation
The Lord's Believers
The Data Angels
Morgan Industries
The Peacekeeping Forces
Gaia's Stepdaughters
The Cult of Planet
[Of course, Aliens and Pirates are still banned.]

If this works for you, decide if you want to pick 1, 4, 5; or 2, 3, 6.

The other rules as agreed:

We play with scient patch and with modified alphax files that stop rising water.
No attrocities allowed.
No copters allowed
Starting Colony pods: 4
Starting Scout Patrols (1-1-1): 8
Starting Formers: 4
One scout patrol is swapped for one special unit if the faction picked starts with a special unit, i.e. rover for Spartan, worm for Cult, etc.

I was just thinking, we should not pick factions until we agree on the additional mods to the modified Vets Map.  We can call the new map the 6 player Vets map.

what do you say about this map?
is for 3 vs 3.
The largest island on the east is for Usurper. you choose between the 3 northern island and the southern.
The strongest military faction will be in the center island and the weakest  will be the closest to the AI (to make our live more interesting).

As for me, better to modify slightly Veteran map (the map is highly balanced).

I was just thinking, we should not pick factions until we agree on the additional mods to the modified Vets Map.  We can call the new map the 6 player Vets map.
I agree with you.

Modify you, and I'll modify tonight, and we will see what map we use from these modified maps :) is ok for you that?
