I'll say OK to abundant life form since it was already decided,..
actually only you had the power to change that vote  ;)
.., but beware that in another game I had we had to restart the game becuse two factions were eliminated by worms...

I also see the danger that the worms (or the luck if you want to put it that way) will have to much influence on the early game if native are abundant. I do not know why average shouldn't be the best.
So, t_ras, if you think it would be better then just put in the table. If not I will have to think about the faction choice, because I am absolutely unexperienced in wormrapes.

let me remind you that mindworms attack with a -50% penalty in the first years after planetfall.

i have all 4 passwords now.
Anyone else feels like it's time to fix the faction graphics bug?

Sorry about being late, but can I join? It would be my first PBEM game, so if you are ok with me spending the initial period asking newbie questions about technical issues, I'd like to join. Taking up my SMACing would be nice.  :)

Too be honest, I would limit a PBEM to 4 players, otherwise it would get too slow and the danger of getting lost is too high.
But I would be in to start another PBEM with 3 players, if somebody else would join as well.
What do the others think?

I'd say "Hell why not! Join the party!". It's obvious to me anyway that this game is going to take years anyway, and tbh finishing the game isnt what im i expecting here anyway (even though when it comes to me, i will update my turns daily basis no matter what, hand on my hearth), but a one helluva ride to trying to get there, if you know what i mean ;). It isnt about the destination, its about the journey to get there.

And obviously, more peeps more fun :)

Its pretty simple rly and isnt rly that diffrent compared to normal tcp/ip, you just post your savefile to persons email whos turn is going to be after your turn (unless theres diffrent place to dump your savefile within these forums, but princible is the same). And ofc its a LOT slower than regular Smac multiplay, but i like that way. I feel every turn is much more intense and you can have a lot more time to figure your next turn :).

--edit--

So yeh, while we are waiting to see what other guys think about you joining in, could you start right away to work on your rules table so we can see your votes on the custom rules and landscape? Faster you do this, faster we can start the game :P

Btw guys, were there any additional rules on these games beside custom rules? I saw from other post that some like to play without tech trading? Is that rule also affecting our game? (I'd vote no for that).

And is there a list of "common" rules for game, like not using workshop upragede to turn your missile needljets to nervegaspod plasmashard needlejet and attack on the same turn?

Aaaaand what about all the events and news on the game (like secret project announce), will there be a shared billboard to share those news? Though with bell curve it aint That big of issue anyway i gues.

And do we have a specific place for backstab-diplomacy, or do we just use our emails to contact each other? And How Do we really share those savefiles? :D

I think that these are covered in this thread.

If not everyone is comfortable with 4+ players it's ok for me to pass this one. No big deal. I'd be up for a different game, though. Perhaps it would be more fun for some of you to have two games going at once? Another good thing is that we could have different rules for the games, to satisfy everyone's wishes. I like small maps, for example, and there is also the pod controversy.  :)

Well, im gonna pass the extra game, atm i'm playing with my friend too 1vs1, so having 3 games at once might be bit too much for my head :)

Ok, here it is, though I don't want to spoil anyone's game by joining against their will at this late stage.

5 players would be ok as well to start off the game.
But especially if you want to learn PBEM it would be good to have a game where you get into the game and it will not take one week or more since you play your next turn. I just started PBEM some months ago, and the first three game went slower and slower and stopped in the end.  :'(  The one still running now with three other reliable players started off with one turn per day, but now where it takes longer for a turn it's about 1 turn a week. So, fewer players mean faster play means you more get in to the game. That's why I suggested another game with 3 players.
So, as still for me with two games running, often there a days on which I don't play a single turn, so I would be in for another game. And I think with different rules would be a nice idea, I am keen to learn more about PBEMS and the best way is to play them.
So, if Rymdolov and someone else would like to join, I still would suppose a second game starting. Of course, I would take different factions, and other rules would be no problem.

Everything you say sounds reasonable. There's a thread for the other game right here.

Richard Baxton piloted his Recon Rover into a fungal vortex and held off four waves of mind worms, saving an entire colony. We immediately purchased his identity manifests and repackaged him into the Recon Rover Rick character with a multi-tiered media campaign: televids, touchbooks, holos, psi-tours? the works. People need heroes. They don't need to know how he died clawing his eyes out, screaming for mercy. The real story would just hurt sales, and dampen the spirits of our customers.
