Skype has been crashing whenever I I play AC?

Windows 7, GOG copy of the planetary expansion set.

Everytime I play Alpha Centauri it's been crashing my skype. This hasn't ever happened to me on windows 7 before but I recently switched to an SSD, and that's when the issue started.

I have the program set to run in compatibility mode, it does it regardless of which mode it runs in and I was wondering if this is a known problem or why it might be happening?

Windows 7 is way too old for anyone to be likely to give you an answer.  Suggest you join the modern world of Windows 10.  I have 2 laptops that are 12 years old running it just fine.  I did have to do some elbow grease with some video drivers and touchpad drivers to make it happen.  Generally speaking, if you have a Windows 8 driver for that stuff, you'll be fine.
