Game of Chiron

The quality of later seasons notwithstanding, it struck me that Alpha Centauri is a lot like Game of Thrones was:
- 7 factions / 7 kingdoms
- often at war, lots of political intrigue
- a looming global threat: planet awakening / the white walkers
- technological / magical progression
- taming wildlife as weapons: mindworms / dragons
- mysterious spy guild: empath guild / house of white and black
- planetary council / small council

A serial TV series practically writes itself, shifting perspectives between the factions. Who would you cast as an actor for the leader of each faction? I'm not big into actors so if anyone has a take fire away. Or other similarities I couldn't think of.

Pretty sure GRRM did some RPG stuff, can't remember if that provided GoT material.  That definitely happened with The Expanse, which is why the show seems rather gamey.

Ben Kingsley for Comm. Pravin Lal.

Frankie Adams for Col. Corazon Santiago and a substantial rewrite of the character to make her actually credible.

Bill Maher for Prov. Zhakarov, if he can do a passable Russian accent.

Having trouble with Chinese casting, black casting, hippie casting, and religious casting.  Someone else can take a crack at those.

So I wasn't the only one who picked Ben Kingsley for Lal.   :danc:

I have a strong urge to cast Donald [Sleezebag] as something.  Voice of PlanetRecon Rover RickSister Miriam (he's orange).  Can't really have Morgan's job.  Morgan's smarter than him anyways.  Lal's Chosen.

Isn't it interesting the degree to which you can stitch generic shiny sci-fi together, to get an approximation of SMAC?  It suggests to me that art direction may be somewhat important for establishing the actual uniqueness of a world.  One might also notice that the Kelvin timeline Star Trek movies, have been kinda crap.  They did the casting right, but then they wasted it on generic action sci-fi.

[Sleezebag] would have to be Captain Garland I think. "Make Humanity Great Again"

Yea Morgan I always felt Morgan Freeman too, that was just a freebie

Surely an insult to Captain Garland.  What little I could stand to read about him in that mediocre book I don't think I finished, didn't seem terribly Trumpian.

Morgan Freeman has played too many 'good' Presidents for me to believe in him as our CEO.  I'm drawing a blank as to who would be proper.  To help me out, I typed "black actors" into a web search, hoping to come up with some photos to stimulate my thinking.  Well I got better, I got an IMDB list of supposedly 50 'best' black actors.  I'm going through it now.

And I'm afraid... it didn't help.  Maybe I don't watch enough movies, but I'm having a lot of trouble visualizing someone I think would be good for the role of "a black CEO", let alone running a planet.  Not that lots of people couldn't do the role, but I'm just not seeing how any actor's manner or persona would translate.

Maybe get the guy who did the actual voice acting?   :D  I looked at CREDITS.TXT.  It was Regi Davis.  I'm noticing he did something recently on The Orville.  Well I'm not familiar with his live acting work, if anything.  Guess I'd watch something and decide.  He can obviously do the voice!

My gift to industry is the genetically engineered worker, or Genejack. Specially designed for labor, the Genejack's muscles and nerves are ideal for his task, and the cerebral cortex has been atrophied so that he can desire nothing except to perform his duties. Tyranny, you say? How can you tyrannize someone who cannot feel pain?
