Yeah man, I hear you. I had some good ideas but I also screwed up hilariously bad (like with the Cloning Vats, wtf kirov?). Anyhow, I think the game is just not designed for the players to have immediate access to each other (because that's what's the issue here, same as in our water game). I believe we should have outlined some clear thresholds to use force. As it is, it's just politeness that we didn't attack each other at Turn 2. I've been constantly in fear of your attack and simultaneously pulling my punches, with no clear concept on how to behave.

But since you dropped a base right behind my back, I'm guessing you want war. :D Especially since you didn't vote on Miriam in this election (why so mean?).

I agree with you, i based the strategy on a SP, and I realized that SP is
useless  ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol  because of all the science scenario  ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol

Despite everything, eventually the game will grow into a slowe builder game. I doubt that we can harm one another.

Damn, I've run into a problem. Whenever I hit 'end turn' for Roze, I have a crash to desktop. I was forced to replay it and and I saved several times throughout the turn, but so far nothing good comes out of it. Will try more combinations, expect a trillion reload messages.

I tried ending the turn without any moves and I tried another copy of SMAX, to no avail. I'll wait for Mart to show up and will ask him to check it out.

If you want, I can repeat the move, and send new save file.

I checked by just opening and ending both turns and it seems that you don't need to replay, the problem is on my side/something I do. I will carefully redo the turns and save a lot during the process. I hope it works.

Oh no. No no no. No no no no. No. Just no. No no no. I would never attack you without a prior proper authorisation from the Council.

Look, I just can't get myself around to try out which moves crash the turn and which don't. Can I ask you a favour, in that we would refrain from any moves this turn, apart from the absolute crucial ones like fending off any worms lurking around? You can move your formers, too. Sorry for that, recently my mind is completely elsewhere (I'm writing/pretending to write my MA thesis in Social Studies; it's gonna take a while). And I'm skipping two very nice supply pods, so it's me who's losing more.

And no, no no no.

Yeah man, I'm here. I'm just kinda unsure what to do with this game. I mean, self-restriction doesn't work well if the rules are hazy. Right now I have a bunch of instabuilt heavy units and - should I attack you (despite my nature)? Or be a gentleman (as always) and wait until you build up and decide not to be a gentleman? Questions, questions...

Logically speaking, an all-tech scenario should be over in 2 turns - you rushbuy a drop unit, you drop it, boom, over. Anything else is a gentlemen's agreement and I feel like that should have some rules.

What do you think? With infiltration, I think you can see what I have.

I don't know if you saw it, I post the turn in  which took over several yours bases, wrote it, its my a humorous turn.

it's hard to play, I see that you are, in fact, a very good negotiator.
as far as strategy is concerned
logically you concluded as most players would, so I honestly expected it as your first attack, so I think I have a solution.

tell me can you play the turn? Or you hawe same problems with game

p.s

How  the master's thesis progresses?

I could only complete my turn if I didn't move any units. I have several SMAX installations with various patches and they're all a bit messy (I'm afraid it's due to the patches themselves, but I wasn't in the mood for cleaning it up).

About the turn and base taking - yeah, in essence that's what I was talking about. It seems we were both pulling our punches as the situation was unclear and we weren't sure how to proceed. For example, I've had probe teams ready to mind control one of your medium-sized bases (and jump in my strongest defenders and probes), but I chose not to because.... I don't know, I think you understand.

So we're both not doing our best and any outcome of this situation wouldn't really show anything or be exciting, it'd be just 'oh, so you attacked before me, great'. At least from my perspective.

As for the MA thesis - finally, I mean finally, I stopped screwing around (pardon, "procrastinating") and started to write, so I have high hopes to complete it within a couple of months.

I have to tell you, I'm slowly drifting away from SMAC. I don't know if it's temporary or not, but now I just don't feel it. Even when I have a mood for some RTS, Civ6 + all DLC works so much better for me. I mean, it's not S-F, I miss the faction leaders, the tech blurs and so on, but the game is 1) much richer in features (you can plant freakin' ski resorts and even hose Moai giant heads) 2) first and foremost, much more balanced. I mean, I think I grew tired of crawler management and how air power renders obsolete any kind of other strategy.

So yeah, I wasn't really upset that both our games died. Can we stay in touch to see if anything changes? I had several on/off situations with SMAC, so maybe that'll change with time. But I do have a lot on my plate IRL.

The entire character of a base and its inhabitants can be absorbed in a quick trip to the Rec Commons. The sweaty arenas of Fort Legion, the glittering gambling halls of Morgan Bank, the sunny lovers' trysts in Gaia's High Garden, or the somber reading rooms of U.N. Headquarters. Even the feeding bay at the Hive gives stark insight into the sleeping demons of Yang's communal utopia.
