Help me find a mod combination
« on: September 06, 2018, 09:23:40 PM »
Hello all SMAX mod lovers.
Some time ago I've installed a mod or mod combination and enjoyed challenged games greatly. Unfortunately, I had to wipe out my machine and reinstall everything. Sadly, I cannot find the same mod I used. I dug up a lot of locations and forums but it eludes me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is what I remember about mod I played.
1. It had improved AI including improved AI terraforming. AI opponents were exceptionally challenging in both economical and military ways to the end of the game.
2. Game gave special basic units to AI to help them out. These units were called like "AI Former", "AI Probe", etc. These units have special abilities boosting their potential. Like "AI Former" had "Super Former" ability and "AI Probe" had PSI defense and antigrav struts - so that AI Probes move 3 turn regardless of terrain and can sustain regular military unit attack by converting it to psi combat. Manual recommended to make such booster AI units obsolete and do not use them by player.
3. New factions: Atlanteans, Bree, Circe, Conservatory of Planet, Covenants, etc. Not sure if this is related to mod itself. Maybe I just added custom factions.

Thank you for all pointers!

If it's a mod combination it might've been Binary Dawn with Yitzi's patch?

Current versions:

Binary Dawn 3.2

Yitzi's patch 3.5

update yitzi's to 3.5d

Yitzi's includes yet another patch called PRACX which offers some fun things, such as allowing the game display to fit better on screen resolutions invented within the last two decades and better handling of windowed modes.

PRACX post 1.10 at the bottom of the initial post is the current revision.

Wow, thank you, Fibonacci for such extended reply. I appreciate this. :)
Yes, I've read through Binary Dawn and it looks like it. Besides, as I understand, Binary Dawn is based upon SMAniaC one. So Buster's Uncle is also correct.

Thank you all for quick reply!

You're welcome, I figured Buster's Uncle was correct. I felt like elaborating since you hinted that you already searched and might need some links to get started. Searches based on niche game jargon are much easier with a few good starting points.  :D

Our first challenge is to create an entire economic infrastructure, from top to bottom, out of whole cloth. No gradual evolution from previous economic systems is possible, because there is no previous economic system. Each interdependent piece must be materialized simultaneously and in perfect working order.. otherwise the system will crash out before it ever gets off the ground.
