How 'Civilization VI' aims to improve upon perfection

One of the more in depth articles I've seen, worth the read, but I can't even copy a full sentence for a quote/snippet.  Not sure if that's my computer or their site.

Calling Civ V perfect is a stretch. The AI in alpha centauri is better.

Yes.

Yes, it is a stretch.  You are correct, sir.  -I thought the exact same thing.

Yeah, I suppressed a laugh, myself.  Don't know if that was just pandering or he honestly feels that way.

I clicked on the link yesterday and gave up on the page even loading after half an hour while I did things in other tabs.  I don't usually have that much trouble with Mashable, if at all.  -Some of that's surely on my machine having a bad day, but still.

I really don't get the graphics hate.

But then I'm still playing Dominions 4 as the last strategy game I've gotten into.

Not exactly a graphical masterpiece

For me (I won't speak for everyone going off about the graphics), Civ has always been about the epicness of human history, lending a certain amount of respect to ancient and current cultures through graphical representation.  The new style just doesn't do that.  That swordsman looks like something out of a mobile scifi-fantasy game.  It should be the Paladin unit approaching the Orcs.

The other thing that hits me is the saturation.  Games on mobile need a higher saturation than games on a monitor or TV.  The amount of saturation in the screenshots of Civ6 so far just seem the same levels as mobile games.

It's probably the saturation helping my particular form of colorblindness.  Seems all the graphic packs I used to install upped that.

Oh. I was too enthralled with the Atlas Colossus to consider it a refection upon the game graphics.

What I found funny was the idea of playing Civ VI on a normal sized smart phone, when I don't even like playing Free Civ on my Galaxy Note.

I'm used to new versions of Civ driving my hardware needs.  My A.I. needs more RAM power for calculatuions. Likewise, a smart phone would need an extension cord to play my idea of a Civ session.

I am into the epicness of it all. Huge, Marathon, 40 hour games and auxillary cooling. Doing that on a smart phone struck me as silly.

And that "PLAY FOR FREE" reminded me of Facebook Civ.

DALE- I wanted to thank you again for your advice about a Surface Pro for my wife. She is now hooked. Normal keyboards seem awkward. She also converted my niece from i-tech to Surface Pro.

No probs. I'm glad it worked out. :)

It still has 1 unit per turn. That alone is terrible news.

Until we have details on how the embedded units stack and the corps work, I'll reserve judgement on that point.

I have  deep sense of foreboding about this game. The problem with 1UPT is the AI cant handle it.
You just have a massive traffic jam. Its one of the main reasons Civ V and BE were so bad.
