Dumb question
« on: April 24, 2015, 12:21:05 PM »
Can facilities built by Secret Projects be sabotaged? I can't believe I don't know this after playing for so long.

I thought they could but I'm playing a game and trying to sabotage Perimeter Defenses built by the CDF researched by the Conciousness and find that I cannot. Hope this isn't a bug.

They cannot, since properly speaking the project gives the effect of the facility rather than the facility itself.  However, if a facility exists as a "double" (built and then gained through a project), then I think the built one can be sabotaged, though this will have no effect (other than energy grid, ability to sell the extra, and I think maintenance) until and unless the project is lost.

Thank you. :) I wonder why do the "random" sabotage target the facilities then? It's a waste of a probe team effort isn't it?

Its unlikely an established base will have only Secret Project-generated facilities in it. Or are we talking about a recently-founded small base here?

Wait, "random" sabotage can target facilities that came from projects?  If so, that sounds like a bug.

The prevalence of anoxic environments rich in organic material, combined with the presence of nitrated compounds has led to an astonishing variety of underground organisms which live in the absence of oxygen and 'breathe' nitrate. Likewise, the scarcity of carbon in the environment has forced plants to economize on its use. Thus, all our efforts to return carbon to the biosphere will encourage the native life to proliferate. Conversely, the huge quantities of nitrate in the soil will be heaven to human farmers.
