@Geo: micromanagement and a dash of luck while popping pods.

As once a very respectable player (CEO Aaron) said, "the colony pod is the best unit in the game". I try to hit 6 bases ASAP and as soon as I get around to quell the first wave of B-drones, I churn out more and more.

Don't tell me you sent out colony pods unescorted.

I'm afraid I did. Chances of losing one do not outweigh the lag due to waiting for escort. Of course, my pods do not have to travel far as I keep my bases as tight as reasonable possible, 2-3 tiles apart. I have 5 bases now and 1 last colony pod will soon be completed. There are lower chances for worms close to your bases, so you're good provided you're not extremely unlucky.

I believe Planet will talk to us if we are willing to listen. These fungal stalks behave as multistate relays: taken together, the neural net connectivity must be staggering. Can a planet be said to have achieved sentience?
