Peter, maybe looking at saves from the succession game from the last few days and reading the posts will help.  I don't honestly understand the exact nature of the manifestation of the problem myself, but I'm not an MPlayer and I haven't done the homework.

I haven't edited it before... Btw. Free Drones have a special rule that rioting bases tend to join them. I haven't seen that happening in the game yet but I would love to see it! What are your experiences guys? Have you ever seen a base flipping to the Free Drones before?

For the drone rule: seems like some of us have 0 in their alphax.txt, some of us have 8. May we all put 0, in order to have consistency?

So, as I see it, majority of players would like to have the drone rule: 0.
If there is no objection from any player, then in alphax.txt this line:

8,       ; Drone rules code {1 to 63}can be changed to:

0,       ; Drone rules code {1 to 63}
The important note here:
If you are in some other multiplayer game, where the "rule 8" is used, you would need to take care of it, and make sure that you are using correct values.

All right, so let's play with 0, I'm comfortable with that the most. I can play with changed rules in future games, however most of it would be related to nerfing OP stuff rather than introducing new fancy rules. Only to fix what's broken, so to say.

Also, I like the way blind research works here. It's a partial randomization, but in a good way which decreases differences between players.

In either case it's interesting.
