No, I am just getting out of here and will not meet the next tenant. This apartment I live in was a cheap apartment because when I moved cities to find work, I did not have a lot of cash. It is utilities paid for power and water. I had noticed internet dropping and an enraged landlord coming up wondering why the power bill was 600 dollars if it was just me and was threatening to make me pay it!

When the cable people came out and the landlord's lackies arrived, they found my cable spliced and an extension cord running from an outside outlet on the apartment to the next house!

Weird thing is, after that was fixed, I started having cable issues again! This time it was spliced going to yet another house!

Add to that, my air conditioning is going out and it is 95 degrees outside and my landlord told me I would have to buy a window unit myself!!!!

While I realize I had to cheap out on an apartment for a bit, I am now making quite a bit more money now and can afford better. Yeah, I could fight, but it just is not worth it when I do not really need to stay in this area anymore.

Oh, looks like it really is the landlords' problem then. He should secure his outlets better then. Seems like the neighbourhood is toying with him. ;lol
Too bad you're in the middle of that.

I do not believe that is a laughing matter; especially if someone else is being blamed for another person's actions.

Yeah.. This landlord is crazy. The actual owner is this 90 yr old who owns around 70 houses in the ghetto between LSU and Downtown. The property manager is who I mostly deal with. In front of my apartment are two houses divided into furnished rooms for rent. The owner makes her and her husband stay in one of the rooms up front to "watch" the property. The husband stays drunk. When I mean drunk, I mean 40 oz in the morning and multiple 40 ozes until he passes out. I drink beer, too, but I can not drink more than 6 12 ozers and I am very toasted with that. No way I would drink more than that. I would feel like [poop] and I would have nothing to cook my gumbo with. This dude drinks enough that I would be up in Baton Rouge General getting my stomach pumped if I drank that much!

What is worse, is he hangs out outside and the drunker he gets, the meaner he gets. I tried talking with him, but it all is a broken record of how he made thousands up in Alaska on the pipeline and blew it all on Meth and Crack then got busted and extradited to Louisiana for some charge (probably felony - I think assault and armed robbery). In a way I feel soory for the property manager. He yells at her, kicks their cute little dog, and gets into fights all the time. Of course, he hardly ever works. But, my compassion with this is at and end when they try to take it out on me - even if they did reverse the decision.. After all, his ass would be laying on a cardboard box on Florida Blvd homeless if she was not property manager.

I move next month. Much more expensive place, but f'n NICE. And this new landlord has heard of this one and understands.

You are of course entitled to your beliefs. Just keep in mind other people don't necessarily share them.

In this case, no harm came to Green1, and it looks like he didn't even have to move elsewhere. So making fun of a cranky coingrabber like Green1's soon-to-be former landlord seems allright to me.

Geo is correct.

I did not have to move. I can, if I want stay here. After all, I do not give them any stress about rent nor do I destroy the place any more than was already destroyed by previous tenants. This place is an  old slave quarters I live in. Pretty common in older areas in cities in the South.

The landlord is a miserly penny pincher. Even though the owner himself is worth millions, I hear he lives in some broken down 2 bedroom shotgun south of here. His furniture is all from garage sales. Not sure why accumulating money matters when you do not use it, but that is his deal.

Nor was trying to come after me for things I did not do merely because I have a job and could be inconvenienced by having to move right then since I have no lease. When they came to me with that stuff, I told them I was not entitled to pay that big electric bill  since our agreement was the landlord paid utilities. If they forced me to, I reminded them I had the cash to throw myself in a hotel room while they were looking at an unoccupied apartment perhaps for months. Summer is a bad time to find tenants in college towns. The money missed from my rent would be much less than the high utility bill.

Always appeal to a villain's since of money, not compassion, is the best way of dealing with that.

There are many people who survived The Great Depression that live in permanent fear of it coming again.  They don't trust their money to banks or stock markets. They live as economically as possible and save the rest. It might be buried. It might be stashed in the pages of old magazines and newspapers.

There are others who lost everything in WW II that think the same way. Permanent austerity mode. They can never have enough to feel secure.

Obviously most people recover and lead normal lives, but since this affected so many people, even a small % of them equals a lot of people.
