It's true that many SMAX features don't compare to the original, but I like a number of them (new landmarks, the fungal tower, etc.), the others are better than nothing (more options rarely hurt) and don't forget about the myriad of bugs fixed in the five SMAX patches. I don't think Yitzi took care of them on his own for SMAC purposes, so I'm afraid we're kinda stuck with it here. I don't remember which bugs was it specifically, but I believe many were crippling.
