I did. I'm still going to be very reluctant about purchasing anything right now. I almost have enough money to get a new console. Retro stuff is cool and all, but sometimes even I want to experience the current-gen.

Well, tried BE for about an hour.
There was nothing to learn except what different techs did after my 84 hours of Civ V I've accumulated over the years, even with the long hiatus I've taken from playing an civ games besides SMAC. Even that I don't play much, though.
It was pretty boring to be honest. I don't plan to play it again anytime soon.

I played it for a couple of hours with two friends (all new). We quite enjoyed it. I thought the quest system and independent station mechanics were good.

Ended up only playing those hours because Evolve had a closed beta weekend at the same time.

Evolve was more fun than CivBE, but I think I'd enjoy playing more BE and it did have some character through the quests (though very little from anything else). Maybe not to the tune of £18, though.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't think I'm ever going to buy BE. I hate to recite any common opinion, but it really does just feel like a really high quality Civ V mod.
I think I would love it if it was a $19.99 expansion pack to Civ V, though. Not because it is better, but because they wouldn't try to pass it off as a new game.
