Choose a faction from original 7

To explain more the question:
If you were to play a single-player game, let's say your next game, either vanila SMAC or Alien Crossfire, with the standard set of original 7 factions, which of them would you choose to lead?
I have something in mind, but will explain later. Meanwhile, this is simple question. And without time limit...

Unless I were doing a thematic AAR, I would probably choose randomly, and I just randomly chose Peacekeepers.

(If it were a thematic AAR, probably Gaians.)

If I wasted to win, probably Uni, but I've played them a lot. I've had fun with the Hive recently though, so let's say Hive.

I don't avoid any of them, but I choose the Spartans most often when I use the originals.

Not sure why not, as he can be very fun to play...although that's less true on higher difficulties due to the more aggressive AI.

I personally like all of the original 7 factions . The faction I use the least is the Peacekeepers.

I used to use the believers before I found out that a community for this game still existed.
However I would now use Morganites.

Why this faction? Gaians are in the current GotM, so let's keep them for later.

University (Prokhor is Russian, like me) or Hive (totalitarian hive-like despotism...mmm, lovely ). Sometimes Spartans (Mayan-styled cities and overall Latino-Guevarian theme ). And sometimes but rarely - Believers (religious fanatics and cliffs as cities )
Almost never choose Lal, Deirdre and Morgan.

I play them all pretty equally.  I voted Spartans for play style, you're forced to generally be aggressive.  Probably even moreso than Hive or Believers.

Thematically, I think Gaians are my favorite but of course the game's lore tends to that.
