Hardcore History

Does anyone else follow this podcast?  Dan Carlin has a kind of annoying AM DJ Let-Me-Tell-You-About-Life-Insurance sort of voice, but he's a good storyteller and focuses on some very interesting but often sadly neglected bits of history. He's working through WWI right now, but I really enjoyed his takes on the Punic Wars and the period after Alexander the Great's death.

In short -- Joe Bob gives it two thumbs up. Check it out!

Just want to put another plug in for this series of podcasts -- I listened last night to Episode 48 "Prophets of Doom" about Jan van Leiden and the Anabaptist takeover of the city of Munster.  What a story!  Blood and religion. Sex and communism. Torture and idealism. Martyrs and madmen... Gory, but riveting.

Joe Bob gives it two thumbs up. Check it out!  ;b;  ;b;

You see in this dome the intermingling of native and earth plants. Outside, they are competitors, struggling over the trace elements required for life. Often, one destroys the other. Here, they are tended with care and kept well nourished. They thrive together, and the native fungus does not unleash its terrible defenses. As you can see, competition is unnecessary when resources are plentiful and population growth is controlled.
