Civilization: Beyond Earth revealed with trailer
XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within developer Firaxis Games is returning to the Civilization franchise with a new entry titled 'Civilization: Beyond Earth'.

Revealed at PAX East, Civilization: Beyond Earth takes the series into space: "As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, lead your people into a new frontier, explore and colonize an alien planet and create a new civilization in space."

Civilization: Beyond Earth has been confirmed for a Autumn/Fall 2014 release. The trailer only lists the PC as a supported platform.

Firaxis released XCOM: Enemy Unknown in October 2012, and its expansion XCOM: Enemy Within released in November 2013, both titles that received widespread critical acclaim.

The studio was founded by MicroProse veteran Sid Meier in 1996. Since then its strategy and simulation focused games have attracted critical accolades and commercial success, earning a place as one of 2K Games' premier studios.
