Quick question on Monoliths
« on: February 12, 2013, 06:42:56 PM »
Quick question from someone who rarely pays much attention to them: do Monoliths ever do anything besides enhance a unit's experience or "remain silent"?

They also will instantly repair damaged units.

Really...does that include Ogres and native units?

That's too bad...I can understand them not healing native units, and (from a balance perspective) not healing Ogres...but from a storyline perspective, they at least ought to heal the latter.

It includes Natives, but not Ogres. Nothing repairs Ogres.

Also, they have a small chance of vanishing if used to upgrade morale.

I'd say just the opposite makes sense too: Monoliths can work "magic" on units because they're a higher tech level and have plenty of spares, but Ogres are on their tech level and so they can't do anything too amazing to them.

Hmm, I hadn't considered that, but it does make sense.  Ogres arguably are even on a higher technology level than monoliths.  The only contradiction to this: "standard" units with powers equivalent to Ogres can still be healed.  But those are rarely encountered in-game.
