When have you used them? How did it go?

Aren't they awfully expensive ;morgan;?

Playing as Cha Dawn ;cha; I feel as if fungal missiles aren't as powerful ;marr; as they need to be to be useful.
I feel as if they should spawn worms upon impact ;worm;.

Tectonic missiles don't even seem to blow up terraforming from my testing?

What do you even use them for at that price ;morgan;?

I like to play as a green/red faction, and play out the clock before a last-second transcend victory...

Tectonics are fun way to raise a lot of land in a hurry.  Fungals are lovely for making all this terrain not very useful to other factions, but great for mine, also a lot in a hurry....

I seem to recall the last time I used either, I was slapped with sanctions and everyone started targeting me, same as if I had used a regular nuke (Planet Buster).
Too expensive, too little results and repercussions were too drastic... IMO, really not worth it.  Formers can do the same thing for way cheaper, plus, they can be used more than just once, better control, and it's rare that formers will do anything that will start a vendetta or Trial of Annihilation or something like that.

Well, the eco damage from either or both is pretty huge, and at the prices/production requirement, they're pretty strictly a late-game toy for while you've already won but are running out the clock...

Formers can do the same thing for way cheaper,
This is not quite accurate. Tectonic missiles increase rockiness, which cannot be done with formers under any circumstances.

The direct cost of the missiles at Quantum/Singularity can also be less than that of raising terrain (remember, you have to spend credits per-use to do that, and the cost gets insane far from your bases), although there's the indirect cost of reduced clean mineral limit which, if you actually try to repair it, makes tectonic missiles far more expensive again.

@OP: Fungal missiles do spawn worms.

@OP: Fungal missiles do spawn worms.

Wow. Powerful Cha poster spreading knowledge.
I will have to test them some more. How many do they spawn?

The time I tried with a singularity fungal missile, it was three worms (or at least three visible worms, they might have been stacked) plus a fungal tower. Dunno if it's variable or how it changes with reactor power.

Technological advance is an inherently iterative process. One does not simply take sand from the beach and produce a Dataprobe. We use crude tools to fashion better tools, and then our better tools to fashion more precise tools, and so on. Each minor refinement is a step in the process, and all of the steps must be taken.
