Probe Team flags
« on: October 05, 2019, 09:06:54 AM »
Hello, new to this forum!

I started wondering if it's possible to give Probe Teams the usual unit flags, after all you can see what faction the Probe belongs to by checking the unit square. Hunting for them is a bother and losing units or even a base to a Probe you could have smacked is frustrating.

My own Probe Teams have flags, so in a sense, yes it's possible in principle.  In practice, someone would have to do binary editing to achieve that.  It's not a text modding parameter anywhere.  You'd have to talk to the few binary modders who are around, whether they have any interest in taking this on.  Or learn how to do it yourself.

Just as a matter of information, probe teams are "unflagged" by design. From the readme.txt:

Probe teams are now "unflagged", meaning you cannot easily tell who controls the team.

Difficult to know who these belong to. ( https://imgur.com/a/l4fOdg1 ) You see the destination if you're Pacted with them. The ones who designed this must have failed to check this little tidbit, as it disables the entire purpose.

I would love if there was just a black flag or even better, a multi-colored flamboyant one and zero implication as to the sender!

Seems like doing the opposite, not displaying who owns the probe team or where it's going, would be an equally valid binary mod.

I am bumping this with hopes of discovering the mystery of probe flags - some people in the thread claim they have the flags!

I thought the vanilla game on its inception had still flags on probe teams.
