Replacement needed for First PBEM

It's been 100 years on Planet Chiron and life was just and fair under Lord Vishniac's rule... Look, I'm afraid I don't have much time to spin a story here or provide all the relevant details, but the thing is, we need a replacement. MY 2201, 5 players. You take the Free Drones, which already had one replacement. Their situation is quite peculiar. On the one hand, mistakes were made in the past and the Drones score 4th on the powergraph. On the other hand, it's still the best faction (bonus-wise) in the game (you run against the Gaians, Morgans, Cyborgs and the Pirates).

Oh, and speaking of the Pirates. They are at odds with the Drones. I wouldn't call it a war, because what is war, but it's definitely a vendetta. On the con side - your entire army has been just destroyed. On the pro side - come on, you're the Drones, you can be back up on your feet in no time.

A demanding game, good for players who'd like to hone their diplomatic and/or military skills. And you lose nothing, as after two replacements you can always say that the defeat (if any) was not your fault. So why don't you join us? At the very least you can help us out in continuing the game! It's been really interesting, ask anyone.

I am interested in playing the free drones.  I should be able to play reliably for the foreseeable future, although I am looking for work and also considering some travel and so that might mean finding another replacement at some point.

I have played Alpha Centauri, although not in a multiplayer game so I might do things that are bad ideas against non-ai opponents.

Which patch is used for the game (i have SMAC/X from gog)?

It is Yitzi 3.4
Read in patch installation how to do it. Good practice is to make a separate folder with the game, so you keep the original in case of problems.
Windows registry does not mind that much, that you use another folder for the game.

Thank you, I have updated the line in my alphax text file for drones to match.

To explain a bit, this line is for one of the Yitzi patch new features. Having it zero means, that the game behave in its standard way - drone riots are determined as usual for all factions. It is not only for Free Drones.

My last post was not clear, I meant that I had updated the line for drone riots rather than making a change specific to the Free Drones.  But thank you for explaining, I did not know how changing the 8 to 0 would make a difference.
