Some time ago, was it Geo? Maniac? or their combined project? made a Mars scenario. I started it to play several times, but never got to more advanced state. I do not remember how much the map detals were true to actual Mars terrain, but I remember, that a large part of the fun was planning to rise sea level, so that one could see barren terrain changing into something more Earth-like. But I never got to the end of this process.

So terraformed Mars would have such one large ocean only on the north?

Making maps... quite fun. A bit time consuming though.

Yeah.  The lowlands on Mars really are all in the northern hemisphere in the real world.

It was GeoModder who did the Mars scenario.

Yeah the Mars map is all one polar ocean. Venus actually has real continents. That one is a bit more complex but its almost done.
Map making really doesn't take that long its just a matter of me sitting down and doing it.

Yeah. In SMAC when you raise or lower terrain the last three numbers after the thousands are generated randomly. IIRC Geo said he spent ages raising and lowering the northern terrain, so it would all be at only 10 meters height, and submerge after the first sea level rise.

The entire character of a base and its inhabitants can be absorbed in a quick trip to the Rec Commons. The sweaty arenas of Fort Legion, the glittering gambling halls of Morgan Bank, the sunny lovers' trysts in Gaia's High Garden, or the somber reading rooms of U.N. Headquarters. Even the feeding bay at the Hive gives stark insight into the sleeping demons of Yang's communal utopia.
