FTL Is On Sale!

You've no doubt heard of this game. But I think it would appeal to many in this community and somehow we lack a thread for it.
"What is FTL?

FTL is a spaceship simulation rogue-like. Its aim is to recreate the atmosphere of running a spaceship exploring the galaxy (like Firefly/Star Trek/BSG etc.)In any given episode of those classic shows, the captain is always yelling "Reroute power to shields!" or giving commands to the engineer now that their Warp Core is on fire. We wanted that experience, as opposed to the "dog fighting in space" that most videogames focus on. We wanted a game where we had to manage the crew, fix the engines, reroute power to shields, target the enemy life support, and then figure out how to repel the boarders that just transported over!"
It is available on Steam and GOG.com. I have no doubt that everyone here knows about both of those fairly well. It's been out for quite a while, normally at the price of $9.99. It is on sale for 4.99 currently. It is basically a spaceship sim where you try to get your "vital information" to the federation fleet, which is at the end of the (star system group?) game. You're a little spaceship that has to battle it's way through generally hostile star systems and outrun the Rebel fleet. The whole story is told from your perspective and it gives you options based on every dialogue box. I would definitely recommend it to anyone here. So go check it out, see for yourself.

You can also buy it direct from ftlgame.com. They released the Advanced Edition expansion free!  ;b;

I got it early in 2013 and played it exclusively for a little over a year. Being a roguelike, when your ship gets blown up, you have to start all over again. But when you finally get all the way through and defeat the Rebel flagship, victory is all the sweeter.

Oh, and I wouldn't call a cruiser a "little spaceship."

It's a cruiser? Comparatively it looks about as big as most the enemy ships you battle.
Leave it to me to forget stuff like that.

Well, for gameplay, it's a bit abstract. The Kestrel starts with only 3 crew (I think of them as officers of the nonrepresented crew complement), and you get max 8. It would be almost impossible to play if they had to run around on something close to a cruiser-sized ship.

The real key is your ship has 30 HP. Early enemies don't even have 10. Until you get to the Rebel flagship, the most an enemy might have is 20(?). Of course, you're on an-eight sector marathon mission, so if you're badly in need of repairs, you could face an enemy that has more current HP than you.
Your agonizer, please.

And so we return again to the holy void. Some say this is simply our destiny, but I would have you remember always that the void EXISTS, just as surely as you or I. Is nothingness any less a miracle than substance?
