I took this sea base from the Pirates a number of turns ago.  I had a single 5-<3>-4 ship in it as a defender.  Recently Yang hit me with a Conventional Missile attack, destroying my ship.  I left the base empty, don't have anything to bring to it right now, and immediate invasion seems unlikely.  My Cruiser Probe Teams have been sailing through and past.  Now, suddenly, there's a Pirate ship inside my base!  But the base is mine, it didn't take over the base.  The Pirates are deadly enemies of mine.  I think that somehow, the game converted my dead ship, into a Pirate ship!  Maybe it happened during the missile strike and I just didn't notice before.

This is with official SMACX Good Old Games version, whatever their highest patch level is.
