Air Superiority and the AI
« on: November 18, 2014, 02:34:04 PM »
Hello all,

I have been playing SMAC with Kyrub's patch, but I am not entirely clear on two things:

Does the AI actually not build interceptors (i.e., aircraft with air superiority)? It does build its defensive units to be AAA but it still is a bit painful when I can take out his 10+ aircraft stack without any resistance.

Secondly, does the AI get combat bonuses at higher difficulty levels? I have noticed my own interceptors scrambling at times are useless against his because of his superior 'strength' rating... or is this the bug I saw mentioned somewhere, that the attack/defence rating for scrambling units are off? As it happens now my units scramble and are eradicated, leaving a base behind with a perfect AAA defence unit which saw no action.

I do love this game to bits but I wish the AI was not so dimwitted, despite Kyrub's very evident improvements.

Perhaps the true solution would be to play against humans, but that is a matter for me to negotiate ;lal;

The prevalence of anoxic environments rich in organic material, combined with the presence of nitrated compounds has led to an astonishing variety of underground organisms which live in the absence of oxygen and 'breathe' nitrate. Likewise, the scarcity of carbon in the environment has forced plants to economize on its use. Thus, all our efforts to return carbon to the biosphere will encourage the native life to proliferate. Conversely, the huge quantities of nitrate in the soil will be heaven to human farmers.
