I guess staring at this "lava lamp" could be construed as relaxing.

Have you ever posted any finds on the Wiki here?  I owe you a badge if you've contributed to the AC Wiki, no way to automate badges...

It also wouldn't hurt if somebody playtested the thing, and reported back on any problems not the code lines showing at the top...

You may be interested to know that this is the last post on the forum before I found it working on the morning of the tenth last month -post made in April, the day after I'm sure the hacker script was gone, and then there was an extended server crash on iFast's part- you were probably last post before the big crash - which I'm fine, BTW if that doesn't keep getting brought up; we're working on fixing that right now...

The Theory of Everything / GURPS: Alpha Centauri AAR @ Origins 2003

This post by one Dirk Collins on the unofficial SMAC newsgroup spoke of two tabletop RPG sessions of GURPS SMAC at the 2003 Origins gaming convention. Fortunately, most of the material (but sadly not Planetfall 2158, the actual game save file that the scenario is based on) has been preserved on Internet Archive.

Origins 2003 GURPS: Alpha Centauri Session I - Mission Briefing for the University of Planet player characters of the Tschaikovsky Colony. The players are scouts exploring a new continent to recover a Unity supply pod, and to protect a colony pod. Interestingly, this takes place in a SMAX context because the Usurpers and Caretakers, Nautilus Pirates, and Data Angles are all mentioned. The Team Profile seems to be made up of four PCs and two NPCs. An extensive Equipment list. The colony start map is sadly missing, but I am charmed that rover.jpg was preserved.

Origins 2003 GURPS: Alpha Centauri Session 2 - Due to a scheduling oversight, the scenario was rerun again (rather than continued) with different players who doubled up, with some new events.

Origins 2003 - GURPS: Alpha Centauri, Tschaikovsky Colony, GM's Reference Materials - Now we're cooking! Pre-generated Characters sheets, Encounter Tables, stats for Indigenous Lifeforms (the Xenophants sound cool and Earth vultures being an invasive species is a nice touch), and Storyline Facts, Events & Rumors for a lot of juicy nuggets of plot ideas. This earlier page posts the same material which some nicer formatting imo

Abandoned Settlement Map - Sadly the only map that was archived, it is what it is.

Dunno, then - mercy doesn't apply to a hero -he died well- it applies to a loser, as close as I can imagine Klingon coming.

"He lost and was not worthy of being finished, instead left to live with his shame", maybe.

-We're talking about post-Star Trek stuff actually, and you know I count nothing after Wrath.  Klingon was created -for the later movies?  TNG?- -the later movies, IIRC- but that's the general drift, as I take it...

Fer realz?

Not AFAIK. Its my take on a hypothetical meaning for how Klingons perceive giving mercy.

Just to get this back on the same page...
Tuned in this morning (July 8, 2318 local), to see a new flow of lava that had started earlier, running out of camera view. Only a bit of low-level jetting, more roiling of lava in the vent. After ~5 min it had stopped. Eventually the lava cooled.

Recently (0423 local) activity has picked up. Not sure when the low-level fountaining started, but there is more new flow running down from the vent, and movement can be seen of lava running downhill. V2 currently showing more of the extent of the flow.

[Edit] 0427, V3 cam view shifted to the right so see more of the flow.

Whoah - it's going a lot higher than this morning.

I'm sure Outpost2 is what I remember.

-There seemed to be a fair number of colonize-a-planet games in the mid-late 90s.  You can guess which one I liked best...

1994, not really contemporary.  Found some YouTube videos of it.  2D isometric engine, not what I'm imagining we could do now in 3D.  GOG has something called Outpost 2: Divided Destiny for a few bucks.  Came out 1997, so that might be considered contemporary.

Spamming is something nobody in this community gives you a good definition when you ask.  It's an insult word to apply to high-volume posting, w/ implication of uselessness and just posting "+1" and such to run up your count.  Turtle will probably surely be making that joke; I've never once done it but ironically.  For us, it's just joking around.

And well, here I am on my own taking on all the crap-work running the place as armor against being burned again.  I get you, there.

Power to the people!

The genetic code does not, and cannot, specify the nature and position of every capillary in the body or every neuron in the brain. What it can do is describe the underlying fractal pattern which creates them.
