Title: Traduction complète anglais -> français, vidéos comprises

Salut à tous !

À la demande d'un ami, et suite à un excès de temps libre, j'ai compilé tout ce qui est nécessaire pour passer une version anglaise de SMAC vers une version française, incluant textes, voix ET vidéos :

Une fois le téléchargement effectué, il suffit de copier le contenu du répertoire 'smacfr' obtenu dans le répertoire d’installation d'Alpha Centauri, en remplaçant les fichiers déjà en place.
Rien de plus à faire, sinon profiter du jeu dans votre langue natale.

Si vous rencontrez un problème quel qu'il soit suite à l'utilisation de cette archive, faites-le moi savoir ici !

Espérons que Bodissey ou quelqu'un d'autre qui n'a pas besoin Google Translate pourront vous parler bientôt. Ces liens sont-ils des téléchargements légaux ? Nous ne permettons pas le piratage.

S'il s'agit d'une traduction des différents fichiers du jeu qui permet de jouer en français à SMAX et SMAC je ne pense pas qu'il y ait de problème de droits.

Par ailleurs les mettre à disposition directement sur le site serait effectivement un plus pour les joueurs francophones.

What I just wrote is that as long as it's a simple translation of the game language files in french I don't think there is a copyright infringement.

And hosting the files there would be a nice add-on for french speaking players.

The download alone won't allow you to play SMAC if you don't already own it.
You need to copy it contents over a legit English version to be able to use it.

Everything has been made from a Loki Linux version, a GOG.com English version and an old CD French version.

Here is what's inside:
_text files with language-specific content
_voice files (for quotes and CPU notifications)
_video files (intro and secret projects)

smacfr-windows is around ~410Mb and smacfr-linux is around ~480Mb.
Some of the files are duplicate between the two downloads, but videos are not in the same format: smacfr-windows provides .wve files and smacfr-linux provides .mpg files.

Attached to this post you can find the full list of the downloads contents.

I am totally okay with the idea of you hosting these files, I've shared these in the first place to make sure they won't disappear soon ;)

Most of them are coming from various downloads I've found, my work has only been:
_find those wherever they were hiding on the Internet (not the easiest part)
_put them all together in a single download
_realize that the Windows version use a very strange video format
_spend a whole night on conversion, and reconversion of said videos…
_run some tests and do some slight corrections in the text files (bug fixes only)
_share everything in a couple forums to make sure I'm the last one needing all this work ;)

Sadly, the archives weight too much to be uploaded there:
354M for smacfr-linux.7z
347M for smac-windows.7z

That's because they do include the movies.
I'll have to try to find a way to provide only the audio part of the movies and a patch to insert it in the movies already here.

It should be easy for Linux (videos in .mpg), but for Windows it seems to be nearly impossible unless you know of a .wve muxer/demuxer out there?

Bah, anyway I'm going to work on a way to turn this into a (much lighter) patch instead of an archive containing full files.
It does mean I've a couple more sleepless nights waiting for me ;)

Linux version should come much sooner than the Windows one, because I just don't know how to use Windows…

The post attachments contain nothing but the list of files included in the downloads linked in my first post.
They have no use to turn the game into French ;)

While I'm working on a lighter version including only the audio tracks and patching the videos already in place automagically, why not uploading a "light" version without the videos?
It should be light enough to not go over my upload quota.

I'll work on it in a couple days and upload it next week.

Je sais que mon affreux Google Translate français est une insulte à une langue noble que vous n'avez pas besoin, mais ce n'est en cas de haut-parleurs français fait. La version anglaise est si ceux qui comprennent aussi l'anglais savent ce que je voulais dire en fait. ;)

Good idea, and if you hit your quota, I'll find a way to fix it.

I know my horrible Google Translate French is an insult to a noble language that you do not need, but this is in case a French-speaker does.  The English version is so those who also understand English know what I actually meant. ;)

Just tried to upload a light version of the archive (texts and voices, no videos), but it is still too big:
"Download exceeds max filesize. Max Filesize is 7.63MB"

The archive weights 30.5Mb.

Well, I'm not giving up and will upload an "ultralight" version containing only the text files while we figure out what to do with the bigger archives ;)

Well, no problem.
People with a good bandwidth or enough time can still download the full translation pack from the opening post, and people with a small bandwidth or in a hurry can go for the text-only version I already uploaded.

I should be able to seed the full version for a couple months from now, let's just hope enough people will keep seeding it after me…
Anyway I'm keeping a copy of every version of the archives on my computer (windows and linux, in the standard, light and ultralight variations), so I'll be able reseed them in the future if anything goes wrong.

(this translation kept me awake through the night once more, I think I should step away from it a couple day if I want to keep my health and sanity…)

Hey fellow SMACers!

I've added the translation of the copyright message on the opening screen of Alien Crossfire (thanks to Jacqueslees from GOG.com who pointed it to me).
I think it is too small a change to do a new upload now, but I'm (finally) going to put together the Mac OS version.

It means the version 1.1 should be here soon, stay tuned ;)

      Rebonjour, vv221! Notre groupe de SMAC en fr est très pétite que je te retrouve ici  :D

      J'ai fait tas des tests pour la version de GOG avec ta archive, et j'ai trouvé mon problème de font, c'est justement de la problème des lettres majuscules dans toutes les index de civilopedia!! Il donne des sentiment drogue quand on est passé de version anglaise, très difficile de lire, et prends trop de place. Et après tout, il est juste pas beau. Inacceptable, je vais le changer.

     J'ai vis la page de vLabz pour le bug et evolution de traduction, je pense que ce sera parfait si on peut faire une version améliorée définitive de SMAC en fr!!

     Moi je me lance dans la quête de repasser tous les index en minuscules capitalisées, et le restaurer en état comme la version anglaise. Et les fichiers correspondant est alpha.txt et alphax.txt; toutes les fichier de fraction, comme GAIANS.txt, believe.txt,  MORGAN.txt etc.; et concept.txt et conceptx.txt. Et je peux les uploader si quelqu'un est intéressé.

     Après ça je trouve des problème de affichage dans le jeu: 

     1.   Dans civilopedia, dans Fraction, les descriptions de aliens dans Alien Crossfire est trop longue, que il a causé des phrases hors de fenêtre, et resté là et ne la efface pas.

     2.   Quand vous faire des combat et quelqu'un est exterminé, le mot "EXTERMINE" doit apparait une ligne en haut dans le fenêtre de leur avatar.  Maintenant il est dans un place overlapping.

     Alors, je vais continuer mon travail de repasser tous les index en minuscules capitalisées maintenant, et faire encore des tests  ;)

Voila, J'ai réglé la problème de tous les lettres majuscules, corrigé beaucoup de typos et bug, format etc. , et voici la version finale améliorée :    :D :D

Je constate que les traductions actuelles sont incompatibles avec les patchs non officiels, vu qu'il y a notamment des ajouts de lignes de configuration.
Du coup j'ai commencé un travail de réintégration de ces lignes (avec ou sans traduction selon ma motivation) dans les fichiers impactés.
Si ça vous intéresse faites-moi signe, notamment si vous voulez aider. Il y a un gros travail de traduction à faire, notamment parce que l'encyclopédie a été amplement abondée.

Je ne comprend pas ce que je dois faire avec ce lien vers play.it.

Cela fais trop longtemps que je veux rejouer à ce jeu avec les voix et vidéos en français.
