Title: scient Appreciation Thread
Post by: Buster's Uncle on April 12, 2013, 04:43:22 AM
I just want to provide a spot for us to suck up to express our admiration for our Main Man.

...

Personally?  I like the guy.  We've had many a pleasant chat on Skype, and in the four years I've known him online, he's never once annoyed me - not something all of you can claim to have achieved.  (That's British understatement, BTW.)

Let's hear it for scient, y'all!

All hail scient!

We'd need his permission first.

By the way, did scient ever post the second version of his patch?  I thought I remembered him doing so, but I can't find it anywhere.

I think it's waiting on translations and datalinks revisions...  But I'm sure scient would be delighted to have you playtest the current beta and provide feedback.

scient?

Actually, I want it more so that I can combine it into my patch for 2.1.

Sorry haven't been active here recently, been swamped with various things.  I'm waiting for Guv to get back from his trip and then going to finish up final details and release final version of patch.  I'm hoping by next weekend.  I've been working to get things ready on my end and then just matter of merging some of his new changes into mine.  They'll prob be incremental updates afterward with any new fixes or changes he's made.  The beauty of using installer is it's so easy to just copy new files and recompile it.

Could someone please  bump Scient's patch thread? I have a CTD to report, but can't find his thread.

Is there any one thread?  Start a new one for the report - it's what Bug/Patch is for, and the way he likes to organize things.  I'll send him a link & a heads-up.

I'll just post it here then.

Hotseat Multiplayer, Smacx, two human players and five AI's. At the notification of the second 'Hercules is approaching' time (in the 22ties IIRC), I click on the message line and the game crashes.
Unfortunately no save, since appearantly there were no autosaves (or was not enabled) for multiplayer.

Be good if you can duplicate the incident, as that's something the .exe guys usually have to do to nail down the problem...

I have sent him a message.

So what's the status of the current patch update? Do we have something to playtest? I'm starting a 1v1 game soon and we can go with scient 1.2. Also, thanks for the superb work, scient! :)
