Now with fewer bugs and more options.

Could you put up more detailed patchnotes?

Sure; what in particular would you like?

What options were added?

What options were added?

I figured that it would be enough to know that everything that doesn't say "inactive" is currently active, but I might as well specify for clarity:

-All the variables about upgrades had been there before, but have now been activated.  So if you want to make "build a shell and upgrade" no longer be effective, you can.
-The planetpearls multiplier has been activated.  Worm farming for cash no longer has to be so powerful.
-Nutrients granted by condenser has been activated, in case you feel that 6 nutrients a square (10 with a bonus IIRC) is just too much.
-Bonus speed granted to air units by their reactor has been activated, for further control of air speed (especially choppers.)
-A flag was added and activated that allows you to have bonus ecodamage from advanced terraforming not be affected by the faction's PLANET rating.
-A flag was added, but not activated, that allows superdrones to be created by pacifism, the University's drone problem, or by turning a drone into a specialist.  The idea there is that once it's activated, it can be set to "yes" to make drone control a substantially more significant matter in bases with a few specialists (and make Lal's bonus talents and the University's bonus drones more significant.)

I can not get the planetpearls multiplier to work. I've tried 0, 100, and there's no effect. Still 10 energy for a pearl. I've also tried increasing the armor upgrade cost to 400, and that doesn't make a difference...it stays at 10.

I've done a fresh install of gog.com's Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire. Clicked on the included Patch .exe (which said SMAC was already patched), and extracted your 1.2 patch to overwrite.

Yes, I'm using the maps named "xplanet" and "xplanetx". It seems that the special variables aren't being loaded. I can, however, make changes to road movement, artillery numerator, forest nutrients, etc. So I'm able to modify the game, but not the new variables.

What am I missing here?

Because of how I had to* program it, the new variables are associated with the map.  Thus the need for the new xplanet and xplanetx, which set those variables to the default values.  If you want to play with the Map of Planet (normal or huge) with changed variables, you'll need to use the rules for updating maps that are included in the patch readme.  Alternatively, you can give me what variables you want to change and I can update it.

*There is another way that may have worked and avoided that, but it would be much more labor-intensive and might only help for some of the variables anyway, maybe I'll do it in version 2.0.

Thanks. So I need to use a hex editor to alter the variables?

I'll give it a shot. I've never hex-edited anything, so I've got something to learn here.
