Title: How much interest is there in a faction text file generator based on Google Docs

If I made one (and I *think* it should be quite doable, though it will take some time), would you use it? I should be able to cover all the options, make it look reasonably pretty, and include auto limits for the 8 limited option, plus integrate it with the power rating formula. You'd have to copy/paste the output into a text file yourself, but it'd take care of formatting.

Playing with spreadsheets is fun :)

One of the things about cult classic communities like this that discourages people. Or any web type project, come to think.

If you just take the number of people that actively post and speak up, you would think you are doing things for maybe 20 folks and only 5 of those would use it.

However, you have two to three more times lurkers that do not make a peep. They may visit once a week, once a month, or only show up once from google to look up one thing. You will have many more folks use it and never say anything. Take Scient's Upatch for example. Not many people posted in those threads on the forum it originated, maybe 15 to 20 at best. But, if you look at the usage - it got over 1k downloads just from that site. Very respectable for an old game. That means a thousand folks used it!

Do not take forum post count in a thread as success or failure. 90 percent of these people will never post or give you feedback whatsoever. They are having to much fun watching us and reading us.

I would definitely use such a thing - I really miss AcEdit.

That's enough interest to be worth doing. It's on my to do list, though lower priority than a few other bits (wiki setup mostly). Many parts of things I use making the faction ranking formula will be reusable.
