Title: Getting SMAC working on the Steamdeck in SteamOS

Just wanted to post this here since I was able to get SMAC working on the Steamdeck (which is nice since it has beautiful trackpads!).

I used the Gog version (using HeroLauncher), in SteamOS it will only attempt to launch using Proton Experimental. From there took a while trying to figure out why it still wouldn't get passed the Firaxis splash, it ended up coming down to the intro movie. So disabled that to finally get it working, adding the following in the Alpha Cantuari.ini

DisableOpeningMovie=1
No mods or patches just Gog vanilla so far. Only thing I have to keep in mind is to make sure not to watch the videos once the projects are done otherwise I imagine those will crash it as well.

Oh of course I alkso setup my SMAC shrine and had some believers pray.  ;miriam;

There's a setting in the Preferences to disable the Secret Project videos.  I was reminded of this because Windows 11 is doing weird scaling things to the video.  I get this skinny wide small rectangle on my 1920x1080 screen.
