Title: FNG needs halp, rescue me

hello am recently found this site. have played SMAC since release when i was just a tiny preboil, dropped it for around 10+ years and thanks to GOG found out a year ago there is an expansion  ;mad Have been playing off and on for a while and now i found out there is a whole community with improvements and mods, nd fixes.

I am particularly interested in the PRACX graphics mod, scients patch, induktios thinker and whatever the "unofficial patches" are.
I need help with getting these things downloaded and installed correctly, i have no experience modding and dont know what a lot of the instructions mean and finding the correct/current versions of things.

would it bee too much to ask for someone to centralize some links and instructions of how to install these and the zippers programs i will need to do it andd post them to me? Pretty please?  :-*

also are there any compatability issues between the PRACX, Scients, and Thinker mods for me to use them alll at once?


Responses and assistance will be greatly appreciated for many cycles.

.ZIP is just kind of a format / tool that one needs to learn to use.  The good news is that Windows actually will read .ZIP archives inherently nowadays, so it's not really all that hard.  You basically just look at whatever's inside a .ZIP archive and copy stuff from folder to folder on your desktop, or use whatever options like "Extract to folder" etc.  Plenty of places on the internet and probably in Windows documentation for all I know, to learn how to do that.  No need to repeat any of it here.

Once you learn how to use .ZIP, then if you want to use my SMACX AI Growth mod, there's nothing else to do.  Drop the contents of my mod on top of an official game binary, such as the GOG binary.  My mod is only .txt files, there is no binary patching.

Some other people's mods are done with binary patching, but you still should just be dropping the contents of their .ZIP archive on top of an official game binary.  They just overwrite the binary with their own.
