Title: 6 promotion shop-talk
Post by: Buster's Uncle on August 07, 2016, 01:50:07 PM
Hey Nik - I've been swamped this week, so how about you do threads over here with some of the neat stuff Rob has put together?

(Note that the same thing we've been doing to/for each other at our respective forums with the "Courtesy of" linkbacks at the top has been passing muster when I did it at 'Poly - you ought to get in on that action; much better search engine ranking there for spreading the URL, and I've had it to myself for over a month, posting almost 100% of the news and content...)

-Congratulations on staying at it until a lot more people have gotten on the bus chipping in with the news/content posting than here - and having more comments...

Note to Godking - linkbacks.  We're totally cool with having our links robbed -do that, by all means; it grows the whole community if we support each other and are cool with sharing- but give us a credit linkback, please.

Some enterprising person should post a comment in the article.  As the author has stated how the game could be overwhelming, we need to post links to here and WPC, so that he (and his readers) can have a few low stress, knowledgeable persons whom can assist them (without the flames, etc).

Shoot even advert the upcoming SPDG over at WPC...

On that note, BU, could you post a thread about that here.....   Please???

Here, like in Rec Commons or what?   I'll go to trouble to accommodate any reasonable request...

Oh; you mean the SPDG - if you don't want to start one yourself, (you're certainly welcome to; we've got a cross-promotion partnership of sorts with WPC developed since this Civ 6 thing was announced, so link and pimp away w/ my blessing) it's on my to-do list, but you understand what you have in mind better...

...I see I missed this article when I was going though doing fixups -thanks for bumping so I noticed- so I've got to check the Tom's link anyway today, and I'll see what commenting takes while I'm there...

BTW - the MP guys might go in for a demogame, so feel free to do more than one thread -Rec Commons has the same problem, that a lot of the denizens won't notice posts elsewhere- in Command Nexus.  It's cool.

The MP guys are very likely going to see if pitboss works PLUS waiting until the 2nd patch before any possible kick off.  Also, when some won't even have the game at time of an early Start, would be better off waiting.

In a lot of ways, we are rebuilding and need to go a bit slower...  Get the SPDG going and target after new years for any bigger DG's.  Or for things like ACtA!, whom would balance the map?? Or what meta-rules? Hosting Sites?  ALL THINGS THAT require we wait and let things settle out first.

Think about it, CiV Players is prime Tuberski territory with Realms Beyond almost the same.  And f-ing poly...  The apathy is palatable (and don't Blame that crash, I have seen worse), could also tuberski it, but you know how Ming is...

Here, WPC and CFC are the only ones (English) that are even doing Anything... and we are hanging out here and WPC for what reasons???   Timing is everything....

Here and WPC because the chilled out culture agrees with us and you can have an actual conversation in our 6 folders in threads not Instantly Long.

So what do you have in mind for doing about the SPDG today?  (That 'post a thread about that here' thing you said above.)

You have my and AC2's complete support - we'll host teams and set up dedicated folders and whatever it takes, if it's needed when it's time later.  I live here and I own the place and I don't need permission; I can just go set it up. ;nod

Could you please post something here, if you want, quote my WPC top post (clean it up, spelling, grammar).

My internet is now spotty due to having to live in car and use public wifi.  Currently trying to get as much vids watching and catchup that I can do.  Copy/paste with smart device s#cks big time...

Also, I am going to try to post an 'ad' at the other sites, with links to the discussion at WPC and here.  If you could post suitable links that I can copy/paste in, would be

I am wanting to attempt to post the Ads on Wend or later, but before the weekend...

Oh, okay.  Sorry to hear about suboptimal RL stuff, man.  I'll see what I can slap together by my bedtime, no problem.

[ninja'd]  Sure.  -Mind if I thread surgery all this promotional talk into the thread I started for just that yesterday?

[ninja ninja'd]  Yeah, I'll try to get it tonight.  Please stop posting faster than I can answer. ;)

Come to think of it, I was just talking to someone high up at CFC this weekend about mutual support and coventures - and I actually mentioned that they were talking up a team DG at WPC - I can go follow up and link him to whatever you'd want them to see...

The ad needs to be something that weaves elements of, Civ 2 to 5GK; SMAC, X to BNW RT...  in the Single Player DG experience, forging friendships and bonds that were not possible through any other means...  that stood the test of time....

I want something that I can post in the fan forums, at 2K forum, maybe to some of the YouTubers that we have recently been watching.  Someone else can do the facebooks, instigrams The tweets and even a plug or two in the polycast (etc)..?

Okay - I think maybe you need a graphic and we need to talk about what that looks like first -also, I burned up too much time IRL to do the SPDG justice tonight.  -I am with you, and we'll get something good made.  Promise.

-Since you didn't say no, thread surgery...

...Who gets along with DanQ?  I'm afraid the last time I talked to him I was giving him down the road about the constant promotion crowding out everything else in the community, so this is not a job for BU...

-However, he's over at CFC, and it ought to be easy for someone -or two or three- to get on a Polycast and talk up an SPDG, though, just not me...

I tried to post this, but it requires a signup or something; the error screen was unclear about what the problem was.

Sorry if this seems spammy, but a member of my forum asked me to post to let people know "As the author has stated how the game could be overwhelming, we need to post links to here and WPC, so that he (and his readers) can have a few low stress, knowledgeable persons whom can assist them (without the flames, etc)."  -So that Alpha Centauri 2's Civ 6 forum at http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?board=32.0 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?board=32.0) - or you could settle for We Play Civ's; http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?72-Civilization-VI (http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?72-Civilization-VI)

(I own AC2, so I'm biased - actually WPC is a bunch of good guys who will answer questions and help and treat new people right, too - but the AC2 community will too, and has 90+ Civ 6 avatars already in the user gallery ;)...)

Might be the link, but if you say ' go to this site, register for free and join the game', should be o.k.

If you need to, go to gmail and create a new account for these sites, then your regular email won't get spammed.

I'm currently at VA in Lk Nona, SE of Orlando's MCO airport.

Okay, it didn't even ask for an email, but I'll look into it again if no random events triggering prevent.

I still don't understand what you need for the ad thing.  I will try to do something threadlike and linky for the SPDG today - I'm way behind because of a medical appointment this morning, though, and juggling furiously to catch up right now...

Hi BU, missed this post directed at me. Sorry for late response.:D

I'm not very interested in going back to Poly, they have treated me badly and the constant negativity is affecting my Tourettes badly. My wife and I have agreed I need to stay away. Besides, all my old threads were deleted and I was told I was a spammer trying to incite forum wars by Aeson. For doing exactly what you ask me to do...

Okay - you GOTS to take care of Nik before anything else.  That's cool.  I think he was just being stressed-out and has backed off, but you know I'm not the go-to guy for defending him, and I'm not.

Now, about the Rob stuff - too much work to share in full, but if you give us generous samples and a link, it's a pure ad for WPC and we'll be grateful, to have it...

Right. We actually have a pinned topic that, I believe, have it all linked. It's the The Civilization VI Compendium (http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/showthread.php?9269-The-Civilization-VI-Compendium&code=AQCZlD0pQhDSBLRO-fyF9m_TdXtrlbHB2Vve75ufyIlgtyve8zYjdkJyImSEmRbuC6ps44eA7sAs2PL-wQtSuFO3Bj0rRWm_0EMUFFv3DVcKIlo64enOUP5CTP2z9klr15ai7-_tb1wORTsus9w18MSMOfzYMyB_2rq5yes8oAn1SxZaJmGR33aqE9XyL-qI-j2vUKDEzxJw2xwY1usqFtJYrpTqnmoVOX7LaGO4OS9J6b3oEvGTuQOjdazhP8m8C0xWYbxqtt75AagVu_Cbg-HbQuz7GNx8MS1XJRW_AQZi6xLJv4Ev0IsZOnmw30zq4wz5y_wUNn2onKN5zWXvmYhP&state=a76e77ca3b67195f7e26fef367377df6#_=_)

...You know, when you started starting threads linking WPC 6 news, I had to talk a staffer down -I totally understood where he was coming from, too- but this one-upsmanship content-sharing rivalry thing we've developed is a wonderful everybody-wins solution that will grow both forums, and I'm proud of all of us for fumbling our way into it...  ;b;

Yo, but you listened and trusted my advice, my young padiwan, and dared to be bold -promotion has to be a little shameless- and, for instance, noticed what I started doing with just sharing the video outright w/ the 'Courtesy of' linkback and did it right back to me - and it's fun, trying to beat you to a scoop. ;b;
