Yitzi's unofficial SMAX patch 3.4b, take 4

Fixes a bug where the nano factory wouldn't work properly on upgrade costs.

I am seeing an issue with this version when trying to start a map by loading the attached map file.

I get an error message saying Windows is out of memory and when I click OK SMAX exits to the desktop. I am not even close to being out of memory and I do not recall experiencing this issue with 3.4 (although I was using a different computer and the map file was smaller in that case).

You're probably trying to load it the wrong way:

If something is a .SAV file (like this one), it can only be loaded as a saved game.  If it is a .MP file, it has to be loaded as a map, and if it's a .SC file, it has to be loaded as a scenario.  Attempting to load one type of file via the method intended for a different type can produce unpredictable results.

Just a note that I downloaded this and extracted it fine, but when I start it either directly clicking on terranx.exe or my destop shortcut to terranx.exe, SMAC starts up instead. I checked the properties of the shortcut and it properly links to terranx.exe

It shows the blue SMAC opening screen instead of the green SMAX one, and the only factions available are the default SMAC-7.

Just to check, I reverted to your 3.3, and everything was fine, SMAX started as it should and ran clean and solid.

You reverted to 3.3?  3.4b is meant to work with the .txt files of 3.4; if you use the .txt files of 3.3 with either the 3.4 or 3.4b .exe, that could cause problems including the one you describe.  (The reason for this is that 3.4 allows you to use alphax.txt to disable/enable many expansion features...so if you use the wrong .txt file, it might think that you want to disable most of the expansion features.)

I investigated my files and found a mixture of 3.4, 3.3, and 3.2 in there.  :-[
What a mess!
I cleaned it all up and am running 3.3, only because I don't need the extra stuff in 3.4b just yet.
