Title: Economic Sanctions
Post by: Soyweiser on March 04, 2015, 04:40:31 PM
When you get economic sanctions for nerve stapling your drones, is the timer reset? Or is the timer added. (So If I staple 6 riots in a turn, do I get sanctions for 10 turns, or 60).

And I wondered, it is possible for nerve stapling to fail. But the same turn, I can simply try again. So, what does that do?

I think that the timer is added each time, though I'm not certain.

And the fact that you can simply try again in the same turn was probably an oversight.

That really puts a downside on my Hive 'staple them all!' tactic. A well, not like the AI didn't already hate me.

Yeah,  ;yang; is probably the best at "staple them all", but still needs to be careful about it.

I found it worked well during the initial expansion phase. There is a moment where I need to make a choice, either, staple, or produce rec commons, or produce less formers, and more scouts.

Stomping on the 's seemed the best bet.

However it meant no commerce ever.

(playing on a large map with slow research).

Of course,  ;yang; isn't really so good at commerce anyway...

Would you look at that:

The amount of turns you are still under sanction are listed on the energy screen (F3).

Was this introduced in a patch? Or is this base game functionality?

I didn't introduce it, and I don't think Scient or Kyrub do such things, so I presume it's base game functionality.
