I welcome enthusiasts of Alpha Centauri, Beyond Earth, and boardgaming generally to take a look at a new project that I am working on, Alpha Centauri 2.

This is a 4X, forum-hosted, text-based simulation of settlement on Chiron. Players assume leadership of one of a number of factions competing to lead humanity toward a new dawn. Each faction espouses a unique, mutually-exclusive ideology, just as in the original game by Sid Meier and Brian Reynolds.

Interested parties should register on www.the-frontier.com (http://www.the-frontier.com), the forum at which the game will be held. It'll be a month or two before we get started but those who join now can participate in development and fraction design. You can even place a preliminary claim on available factions (35 options have already been confirmed).

Controlling the leaders? You might as well play SMAC, as Yitzi said about my roleplay ideas.  Maybe you'll make it work though.

Over 50 pages? This might be a little too complicated.
(Also, the first chapter has a typo. "Layers Guide")

You'll find that a large majority of the document is dedicated to descriptions of Chiron, or else to faction design (now no longer required). It is an unrevised edition of the rules. Just something to give you a sense of the conflict-resolution mechanisms. Pages 1-7 are more up-to-date.
