Title: Logos1

Logos1

(http://alphacentauri2.info/MGalleryItem.php?id=883)

20 logos, size/cropped and scanlined, ready to copy/paste into the .pcx of your next custom faction.

Logos are the easiest aspect of a SMACX faction graphic to create, but it is hoped that these graphic goodie files will give beginners at faction modding a leg up.  See also the Bases, Diplomacy Landscapes and Portraits series, also in this section, and for info on art techniques and/or to communicate with BU and ask any questions, see the Graphics thread: http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=1237.0 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=1237.0)  These are a lot of work to create, so please be sure to credit me in the empty space of the .pcx.  Posting to let me know you found it useful would be okay, too.

Thought I'd never see the Unity on unit size again. ;b;

Unit size?

Again?

I once resized the Unity to fit in a slot of the Units.pcx file for a follow-up scenario of that Mars scenario in made long time ago. But the whole thing got deleted so I lost that particular work.

Lotta fun, cutting that out of the background.

And I did it with Paint. ;)

I did everything I could in Paint before the useless W7 version.

-And you realize, of course, that along with the other series I'm putting out this makes at least 20 complete sets of everything that goes into a faction graphic.  Not that 20 random logos to choose from are that likely to suit any given custom faction, but something that much more original than mix-and-match copy/paste from Network Node factions is made possible for the non-artist faction creator...

Yes.  I am great.  ;king

I had more in mind easing people into actually modding game art for themselves, but empowering guys like you and Maniac who copy/paste faction graphics together is good, too.

Did you catch the reference to Asimov's Foundation series?

First set in the forth row - I know you'll get it.

Because I tend to have rather childish results when drawing stuff (like stick-figures and houses with crooked chimneys :))), I have a lazy way to make a logo: Take the top 3 colors from the little boxes at the lower left (the faction colors and text colors) and make a 3-striped flag. Here's a nice little green flag:

That's a good idea. ;b;

Actually if you put one of the logos from this thread as an emblem in the middle of that flag, it would make a nice logo.

Didn't.

Spaceship and Sun - symbol of the Galactic Empire.

Now you mention it, yeah. I remember the Empire used that symbol. But I never saw it depicted on any of the Foundation novels so it just didn't click.
Besides, doesn't the Second Empire of Man (the mote in god's eye) also uses a sun&spaceship symbol in its flag?

[thinks]  I don't recall that - although it would be like Jerry Pournelle, who's not above the occasional blatant ripoff.

And add a little Flux to it... (although BUncle made the actual emblem)

I like it. I'll set myself to experimenting and see what I can do, too.
