Title: Under development: 4X/RPG Space Simulation Game
Post by: Corak on August 26, 2014, 01:04:58 PM
Dear community,

I am developing a PC Space Game with 4X elements and a role-play-game core. As an SMAC fan you will find some elements from Alpha Centauri refined there.
You will lead a small group that fled from the earth. Your slip into the role of the first digital lifeform, a computer AI.

What do you think about? I'm happy about any feedback :)

Kind regards

If you're looking for crowdfunding support, fixing your spelling and grammatical errors will probably go a long way.

You also should probably make it an early priority to actually have those "More Information" titles on the front page link to somewhere.

A sense of how you win and how you lose, and more detail on what sort of enemies and obstacles you'll face, would also help a lot.

Dear Yitzi,
thank you for your valuable feedback!

The "more information" section is linked now and I added the victory conditions (http://www.acleidata.com/en/game/victory-conditions.html). Sorry, some times you get business-blind :)

Enemies, obstacles and challanges are on the ToDo-list.

Regarding spelling and grammar: You are absolutely right. This will be heavy going, as English is a foreign language to me. If you find any mistakes or phrases that are hard to understand, would you tell me, please? :)
If you know any native speaker for a proofreading - maybe here in this forum? - I'll be very greatful!

Kind regards
- Corak

I haven't found anything that's hard to understand...but even if it's not hard to understand, it would still turn off potential contributors.

I'm a native English speaker, but going over the whole site is too much, as there are so many mistakes.  However, here's a way to cut down on them somewhat: Take the text of each page, put it in Microsoft Word, and run a spelling/grammar check.  That should catch most of them, I think.  (It will also catch things that aren't mistakes.  Don't blindly accept the corrections; instead, if it says it's a spelling error, accept it unless you know otherwise (e.g. a made-up word), and if it says "word choice", look up tje meanings of both what you used and the suggested replacement, and decide which one you want.  Note that it might not catch all the copies of the wrong word, so once you've done that, replace it everywhere that is relevant.  Anything about subject/verb agreement should also be followed; anything else can probably be ignored.)

Here is a small update:
We've change the release name to "Solar Hideout", which is more speaker-friendly.

@Yitzi
Thank you for your hint, I did my best to erase spelling errors - and finally found an English native speaker, who likes to check the page for grammar and idiomatic mistakes.
